Abscess Tooth Extraction still sore 2 months later

At the end of December I had exploratory surgery done. I had pain in my mouth for over a year. Xrays never showed anything, it didn't hurt when I chewed at all. Just throbbing pain at different times. A CT Scan show a hole up by my jaw bone. When the did the surgery they found an abscess (cavity). I had them pull the molar, and they cleaned out the abscess. It is now March and my gum is still sore. Is this normal? I did have quite a few stitches in my mouth. Just wasn't sure if it should still be sore. I should say it is only sore when I touch up there.
