Side filling and "sanding?" Pain

I only go to dentists when I need to because they seem to cause so much pain. I had a receeding gum, nothing too bad. A dentist put in a liquid filling. No problem. A few years later it popped out. I went to a new dentist who said it popped out because it was not sanded down before. So he injected me twice and then proceeded to use a "sander" on my tooth. Even with the injection I could feel a dull throb and knew whatever he did was going to cause horrible pain when it woke up. He packed it with "retraction" thread, whatever that is, and then used the light gun to seal the filling.

Well, I was right. When it came to I was in such pain I could not eat. My glands swelled up and I thought I had a staph infection. My Dr. said there was no fever and that was not likely. I can eat a little now, but I have a constant dull throb all the way down to the bone and up through the tooth. 24/7. It is no longer agony, but it takes up 50 % of my thoughts.

It has been about 4 weeks. This was on the side of my tooth, not the top. What could he have done?

I am rinsing with salt, using herbs like Neem and simply refusing to go back to any dentist. I can see that even a root canal may not solve the problem. I was not even in any pain when I went to this Dr, but now I am!

When I got my records, he said he did not use any local. Not true. He numbed me twice. Plus there were no X-rays taken at the time.

I am wondering if maybe the original filling on t he top may have been hit. The one on the top was done two years ago and the first dentist warned me it was deeper than he thought and very very close to the nerve. Could the sanding and procedure have hit up with what the other dentist did?

I will get a second opinion. Now I am scared to go to dentists all over again.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
The only advice I can give you at this point is to get another opinion and possibly repace the filling. It does sound a bit unusual for you to be in this much discomfort from what  seems to have been a simple bonding procedure. I don't think the saline rinses or herbs will do anything to alleviate the sensitivity.

I'd have a nother dentist evaluate your problem. From the way you describe the procedure it does not sound like the dentist did anything wrong.
