Absessed tooth removed

I had an absessed tooth removed last week and I still have a bit of a lump or swelling in my jaw bone. Is this normal and does it take along time to recover. I am also on antibiotics still.

It can take quite awhile for swelling to go away after an abscess.  The lump should just get smaller and smaller.  Infections leave behind dead "debris" that the body has to reabsorb. Sort of like a bacterial cemetery all clumped together.   Warm compresses can help speed it up some, but it should go away on its own.

Hope this helps.
My best to you,
