Allergy to composite resin

Has anyone ever experienced a systemic allergy to composite fillings?  Since I had all my mercury fillings removed (by a qualified specialist) and only when I started refilling the teeth with composite resins did I begin to experience itching (a feeling coming from the inside, out).  I had temporary fillings before the permanent ones and those were fine.  When I first had the composite fillings applied, I experienced some sensitivity in certain teeth which my dentist redid and used a protective layer before refilling the teeth.  For about 3 months now I've had to take an antihistamine tablet every other day because the itching keeps returning.  I have ruled out food, chemical and environmental allergies and have been told by a gynecologist that this type of allergy is not due to hormones.  I've asked my dentist if there is any test I can do but he doesn't know of any and I am considering consulting an allergist but I would like to know if anyone out there has ever experienced this and what you've done.

The allergy could be from another source but it seems too coincidental that the itching first appeared after placing the composite resin fillings.

Despite the pain I have been through, it is equally painful to read all your stories and the ignorance of the dental and medical communities on this.  My nightmare started 7 years ago after a biological / holistic dentist (or whatever bogus name they call themselves) removed mercury amalgam fillings from 3 teeth and replaced them with composite resin restorations.  He also found work on 8 other teeth where he placed composite restorations.

After this, raging fire appeared on my gums/jaw bones, inside my nose, eyes & head every time I ate.  At times the burning was so bad, that I could not keep my eyes open or hold my head up.  I also had fatigue, shortness of breath, swelling of my tongue with teeth marks, a muscle contraction at the base of my tongue and shooting pain into my head when I would swallow water causing severe bursting headaches.  When I contacted this dentist to see if these dental materials could be causing my burning symptoms, he told me NO and said I probably had dry mouth.

I then consulted with a neurologist (who was more interested in prescribing drugs than trying to find out what was causing my symptoms), a neurosurgeon (did brain & cervical MRI’s), a DMD and an ENT who could find no cause for my symptoms and severe pain.  Through my own research, I found how toxic these composite resin dental materials are. They are made from petroleum byproducts and contain ground metals to give them strength.  The National Institute of Health even posts an article on the release and toxicity of dental resin composite.

I consulted with an Internist who agreed that the source of my severe pain was dental materials.  He referred me to an old school dentist who still practices classic dentistry that was taught back in the 70’s.  He only does cast gold restorations (inlays, onlays and crowns).  Over the past year he has slowly removed the toxic composite resin restorations from my 12 teeth and I have gradually improved.  Currently I have 7 teeth restored with cast gold restorations.  Recently when he worked on a tooth, he had to make a new temporary for it and I took a step backwards because the temporary also contains petroleum byproducts.  The cast gold restorations are cemented with zinc phosphate which does not contain any petro chemicals.

I was told by the medical profession that burning mouth syndrome is a menopause symptom.  It is NOT a menopause symptom, it is a dental material problem.  On the website 1800dentist, they list everything except dental materials as the cause of burning mouth syndrome.

Not only do the composite resin materials cause pain and suffering but they cause decay and kill teeth.  While my dentist was removing some of the composite resin material from the exposed tooth surface, he noticed something at the gumline.  He cauterized the gum tissue to remove it down to the root and found decay which started below the gumline and went all the way down to the root.  If he had not found this, I would have lost the tooth and needed a root canal.  My dentist has commented on how healthy my gums are so the burning symptoms and decay below the gum line are not related to a gum infection. The petroleum byproducts affect the pulp of the tooth, thus causing decay below the gumline where you are not even aware of it.

I hope to be finished with the 5 remaining teeth by the end of June.  I will report back if all my symptoms are gone after finishing my dentistry but up to this point it has been promising.

What a sham that the Dental Association allows toxic composite resin to be on the market.  They need to do clinical studies.  They will find out that every person that has burning mouth syndrome has composite resin dental materials in their mouth.  Even if your symptoms are different than mine, the toxic composite resin affects your entire system.  Your symptoms can be different based on your genetic weaknesses.  If you developed symptoms or your existing symptoms got worse after having composite resin restorations placed in your teeth, most likely the dental materials are involved.  Even if you developed digestive issues, joint issues, blood issues, etc. after composite resin placement, it can be related to toxic dental materials as they affect your entire system.

I also had a zirconia bridge removed and felt some relief from its’ removal.  Zirconia, along with Cerec and the rest of the composite materials are all toxic. These dental materials are at the root of our country’s healthcare crisis.  The medical and dental communities have failed to realize it and only through drugs at it.

I agree.  I tried to have one replaced with gold foil yesterday but chickened out.  I need to just do it.

Did you get the rest of yours out?  How vastly have your symptoms improved?

I have swelling under jaw and cheek rashes.  Swelling so bad it's hard to breathe.
Hello, I can identify with your story as I do experience similar issues. Right now I am totally messed up. How is your health situation today?
Thank you so much for your story about the allergy to the composite resin, it helped me realize that the horrible burning I was experiencing in my mouth, throat, and face where coming from the front tooth which the dentist had filled with composite resin. What also saved me is that I only had one tooth with composite resin filling and when my tongue would touch my tooth my tongue would burn. October 13,2022 is when the dentist put the composite filling. I could feel from the beginning a slight taste to this tooth, I thought it would go away. January 17 is when the burning emanating from the composite resin filling became unbearable. I finally had it removed on February 2nd 2022. I had to go back February 9, 2022 and have some more filling removed. I have no filling on my tooth right now. I just want to heal . I'm doing much better, but I've been reading that composite filling is hard to remove I hope it's all gone.
I found a doctor at USC in the dermatology department that does skin patch testing on your back for dental materials.  I had a severe reaction to acrylates which is used in all composite resin dental materials (fillings, dentures, etc.).  Since I have an allergy to acrylates, I would react to all composite resin dental materials.  His testing will not tell you which brand of composite resin dental materials you can and cannot use.  He is testing for acrylates, not specific brands of composite dental materials.

***I FEEL SICK! And I'm so glad I found this forum...I finally have proof that it's not just me. I want to say that I sincerely feel for all of you and I'm sorry for what you are going though. Please know what you are going through is real. Don't let any one try to convince you otherwise. I'm a regular person living a normal life and never had ANY issues with dental materials ever in my life. My original porcelain bridge ( no metal in it) that I had in for 7 years never caused any problems other than not fitting right and being too bulky, and I found a wound under it where my tooth used to be that never healed because part of the bridge was pushing too high in that spot.
Here is my current problem: early April this year I had my old Porcelain bridge replaced with a new bridge with a new material called Zirconium and it is very shiny. (The material feels like the coating used to make non-stick floors so you don't slip). I recently read that zirconium is the new thing to make fake teeth look more realistic. It has grooves in it and extra shiny like real teeth. During my first exam before we even started any procedures, my dentist briefly mentioned that she wants to use a different material for the bridge (which is the zirconium). I knew nothing about it...but trusted my dentist. No pros and cons mentioned, so I figured she knew what she was talking about. Long story short - I still have the zirconium bridge temp cemented in so I can see if I like placement, size, shape, etc. Since I had it in, I've had WEIRD symptoms: EXTREMELY dry mouth and white coated tongue. Loss of appetite, I feel tired a lot (I'm normally a super hyper and happy person) and I wake up with a gross white paste as if I'm a smoker. I do not smoke, nor have a ever smoked. My tongue feels huge, tastes terrible, and has blisters on the side of it. My gumline where the 3 unit bridge and one veneer is is swollen and bleeds when I brush (my gums were healthy and did not bleed prior). I left a message for the dentist re this but have not got a call back yet. I go in next week and will discuss it then. My main worry is that this materials used in the bridge and veneer, and the materials used to make all of our dental work SHINEY could be cancer causing and Leak into our bodies, swallow after swallow. Someone out here has to open their eyes and help. I know the labs and dentists make a lot of money...but at the expense of all the patients suffering and who knows whatever else can happen to all of us later...and future patients. sounds like it's becoming an epidemic. Are we all just guinea pigs??

I agree
I totally believet that these materials placed in peoples mouth are highly responsible for the high volume of cancer and other health issues  experienced in today's society. I was blessed with perfect health until i had my very first mercury filling. Since then i experienced severe itching  under my skin which would not heal with meds. Upon placement of other mercury fillings, i got sicker and sicker and my tests results were all negative. Doctors could not find anything wrong with me. I continued to deteriorate and my bank account decimated drastically. Of course i was ignorant of the fact that this could be the cause of my illness as my dentist reassured me that mercury has been in existence over the past 100 years and what the heck everyone has it in their teeth including him. After a number of years of suffering with itching skin, memory loss , fatigue, weakness and declined hearing, i happened to meet a young lady who also had her fair share with mercury fillings. She advised that i might want to remove them and try the composite ones instead. I did not listened when she said to me ensure it is done using protective measures and there are special dentist responsible for removal. I went straight to my  local dentist and asked that they be removed. He did'nt hesitate and i sat over 2 hours to have them removed. There were two on each side of my jaw. I walked out that day from the dentist office with a sigh of relief that my problems are over. Little did i know what lies ahead. It was a roller coaster of deteriorating health issues. I experienced every form of illness on this planet. My memory was messed up, my 20/20 vision was gone, i had burning in my throat, underneath my feet and the palm of my hands. The itching had intensified. I experienced heart palpitation and my face aged overnight. I do have a story to tell the world. I travelled to the USA to seek medical attention but the doctors did not find anything wrong after conducting numerous tests. I was evaluated by a psychologist who after assessing me concluded i was not mental. Every test i did on the planet came back normal. I battled with health issues after health issues and today im functioning with only one kidney and constant ringing in my right ear- tinnitis. I came a long way over a 20 year fight with the help of detox as doctors had given up on me. I refused also to visit any more doctors, not that i had a choice though, but because i was broke. I eventually had to remove 5 of my teeth, and with each removal my health improved. Last year i decided to replace some of my missing teeth with zirconium bridge as they claim it is a safer material. Im happy that i can smile more although they are ill fitted and appears  larger and whiter than my normal teeth. They are very prominent and noticable also. As to  say if they are causing problems today? I believe so as a new form of illness has taken over  my body in the form of arthritis and muscle weakness . I also experience memory loss, severe bloating ,breast pain and issues with my uterus and cervix. I wish that my story be heard and people learn from it. Do not remove your mercury fillings under unprotective measures. It is even safer to extract the tooth as it will cost you your sanity, your bank account and you would be told its all in your head. I rest my case.

I had composite veneers placed on my 4 front teeth about 10 month ago. Since then I have been suffering with dry mouth, sticky saliva, burning tongue, headaches and fatigue. I have deep cracks in my tongue and white coating.
I was 100% healthy before I put the veneers.

I have several composite fillings because my previous dentist said I had "sticky spots" he didn't want to turn into cavities. Thinking I could trust him, I proceeded to have the fillings. While most of them are very small and/or shallow I've battled chronic debilitating migraines and anxiety disorder and have tried everything else to solve this issue to no avail. I'm convinced more than ever it's due to the fillings because before that I never had a migraine nor anxiety disorder. Of course, because they are composite and not amalgam (mercury) fillings even my new dentist, a biological holistic dentist, dismissed my claims saying she doesn't think it's because of the fillings. I'm telling you don't give up. Find a holistic biological dentist who does compatibility testing. That's what I'm looking for now. Keep talking to people, telling your story, and NEVER give up. Someone somewhere has to know the answer and what is causing your problems. Please update us on what you find out along your journey.

FYI, some composite materials you will be fine with but others you might have an allergy or sensitivity to. Be careful which dentist you use and look for a holistic biological one that practices safe amalgam removal if you need procedures done. Also be sure they are fluoride AND BPA Free. It's a shame we can't trust and rely on all professionals equally and it's really hard to find the good from the bad but keep pushing.
Totally agree

Composite resin after polymerization become quite inert. It leaches some monomers and stuff used for polymerization like initiator, UV stabilizer and inhibitor. right after placement. However with time it becomes less and less toxic and more biocompatible. It should not burn tongue for sure, at least composites with proper fillers. Some composites have ytterbium fluoride and barium glass as fillers, however ions of that materials not likely to cause burning.

The problem here is SELF ETCHED BONDING AGENTS. They usually used to etch teeth and glue composite to teeth. Even removal of composite filling does not remove all symptoms. Because etching agent still remains in tooth tubules it forms hybrid layer and impossible to see by eye.
I have same issue when doctor put overdose of self etching bonding agent and composite on top. After they removed all composite. i still have symptoms, later they also removed  some tooth structure under composite filling and i felt reliefe, but still not full. For now two months already gone, i am walking with broken tooth without filling and almost all burning gone. I asked to pull tooth, but many clinics refuse.

I have another composite filling placed before and I had no issues with it. We need to figure out what bonding agents can be safely used and which should never be used. unfortunatly this is dark area and many doctors do not know themselves.

Conclusion. Do not put more than one filling per one visit. Wait for few week after placement to be sure everything is ok, to put next one with same doctor and materials. Do bio compatibility test for each material doctor will use on your tooth.

I have had unsafely removed my amalgams and replaced by composite resins, since them I developed a burning in my mouth which radiates to my throat, brain and chest. I also developed numerous health issues such as itchy skin, heart palpitations, TMJ,  loss of memory, depression and the list goes on. This was in 2014 , we in 2020 and I am still searching and looking for answers, I am also contemplating removing at least 5 of my teeth since I am really sick and tired of this burning mouth and constant health issues. I need to inquire whether or not you have gotten your issue resolved and what is it like today with your health.

I had one amalgam replaced by composite, feel relieve after from toxic mercury. My wife have 5 composite filling and no issues. I put second composite filling and got intoxication with burning mouth. My wife did filling in same clinic with same doctor and same composite with same doctor and no issues. The difference was she put filling on molar in hole, I put as front restoration. I suggest bonding agents were different and amount of bonding agent too.

Hi my name is Caroline.

I know this question is a bit dated, but I want to offer some suggestions and advice based on my own personal experience.  Hopefully this post will save some people some unnecessary pain, suffering and frustration.  I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and after doing some research I believed that my symptoms were caused by my silver amalgam fillings which contain mercury. I went to a biological dentist, he submitted out an individual  biocompatibility report to be done for me. he did a protective amalgam removal on me and used dental resin that was biocompatible to me.  I also had chelation therapy done. My symptoms all went away.  Now you may be wondering what this has to do with this question.  Here is the second part to this.
I lost my dental insurance so to save money I went to a dental school to get some composite fillings for some cavities I had.  Stupid me, not checking my biocompatibility report went and had the cavities filled believing that all dental resins are the same. I found out the hard way that's not the case at all! There is at least a hundred different kinds! After I had the cavities filled with the resin, almost immediately I started having MS symptoms again. I called the student doctor and made him tell me the exact composite resin that he used on me.  Turns out it was one of the materials that I'm highly reactive and allergic to.
So this is my advice to anybody having problems like this. If you suspect that you are having an allergic reaction to the composite resin used for your fillings, contact your dentist and let the dentist know that you are having problems.  Make the dentist tell you what the exact composite material that was used on you. After getting that information, you should get an individual biocompatibility report for dental materials done on yourself.
Now, it is my experience that the average Joe dentist doesn't have a clue what an individual biocompatibility report is. In fact you may be educating your dentist on what one is.  If your dentist isn't very open minded, you may be marginalized and made to you feel like you are a hypochondriac if your dentist is not in the know. Or even worse, the dentist is in the know but protecting themselves from liability.
Unfortunately, we are the minority when it comes to  having issues with dental materials.  The majority of people can use these materials and not have a problem whatsoever.  If you find out your dentist is not very open minded, if you can afford it, go to a biological dentist and ask the dentist to submit out an individual  biocompatibility report for you. Based on that, they can find out what composite resins will be the least reactive to you on an individual basis.
If for whatever reason you are unable to keep seeing a biological dentist, just bring a copy of your biocompatibility report to your Average Joe dentist whenever you are getting, whether that be, a filling, a bridge, a crown, whatever and make sure they don't use any materials that are reactive to you.
It is my experience that because we are the minority when it comes to this problem that we have to be extremely assertive and be our own health advocate. If the wrong materials are used, it can adversely affect your health on an extreme level.
If you live in the United States and you are wanting on your own accord to get a biocompatibility report, you can contact Biocomp Laboratories Incorporated.

Composite filling is a complex system. They also put etching component, bonding agent, primer or just universal self etching bonding agent. How much they put bond and were it matters a lot. thickness of composite layer, curing time and distance to light everything  matters.

I've been through some very difficult times since March 2017, and have been desperately searching for answers. Back in March I had a dentist appointment where I had 3-5 fillings done (both sides on the top row of teeth). A few days or maybe about a week after the appointment my tongue started to feel swollen on the back right. I then started to constantly have dead skin in my mouth all the time. One day about a month after the appointment, my tongue turned yellow/orange. They thought I had a yeast infection which turned out to be negative when I had it cultured, and the Nystatin rinse and Clotrimazole lozenges I took did nothing. Starting in Late April/Early May, my tongue started to get a burning sensation and my throat was sore on the right side (still is a little bit). After about a month or month and a half the tongue burning dissipated and the swollen feeling did a bit as well. It is now the end of July and I've been seeing several ENTs, PCPs, Dentists, and an Allergy Doctor for the past couple of months. I had some patch testing done and just finished it today and got my results back. I finally have an answer. It turns out that I have Allergic Contact Dermatitis to Acrylates (particularly whatever Acrylates are contained in "OptiBond Solo Plus" adhesive). My allergy doc says once the monomers in the acrylates in my mouth bond to form polymers, I will no longer have any reaction. I am starting a prednisolone regiment for the next month (15mg/5mL). I asked if I could just get them drilled out, and he said yes I may be able to, but that could spark a reaction as the adhesive would get loose in my mouth. I think I will leave them in and see if I get better. It is feeling "mostly" back to normal now after nearly 5 months. I hope this post helps someone, as I know I was desperately searching the internet for answers when I was in the thick of my struggle. God bless all of you, and have a positive attitude about things. Life will get better in time. Don't let your mind control you. If doctors tell you that you don't have anything seriously wrong with you - believe them. I highly suggest you seek out an allergy doctor if you experienced any of the same symptoms as me and think it is not related to the shot you had for numbing. I saw several people say they had severe pain after their injection - that did not happen to me. I did not have my lingual nerve damaged, but if you are searching for answers you may come across this post. I hope this helps someone!

I've been suffering with symptoms for three years.  My tongue started to show signs much like yours. the inside of my cheeks started to "peel" for the lack of a better term.  This all started after I had my old fillings replaced with composites. I had a biopsy done and they concluded it was lichenoid mucitis.  I've always believed it was an allergic reaction as there were no other changes in my diet or lifestyle and I don't take any medication, but my dentist has been treating it like lichen planus.  I am going to talk to him again and hopefully get to the end of this.

Did anyone get their composite fillings replaced or removed?  Did your symptoms improve a lot?

I have 3 fillings...all resin, placed 8 years ago (they replaced my old silver ones).  Gradually since I've developed a swelling under my jaw that makes it difficult to breathe.  Along with rashes on my cheeks.  I've been to a MD and ENT and they can't find anything.

I was going to get them replaced with gold foil yesterday but chickened out.  I need to go back and do one a.s.a.p.
and then I'll do the other 2 after that.

I strongly suspect the fillings have been causing this severe allergic reaction.  2 of the fillings are on the buccal pit (side wall) of each of my lower molars.  The left one is larger and the swelling on my neck there is worse and goes toward my ear.  I think the constant saliva from contact with my cheek wall is leaching the toxic ingredients faster.

I can't find help either.  I went thru Huggins protocol, all to far away in other states.  I called many holistic dentists and made an appt. for next week for one in Los Angeles.
Will let you know what happens.  Going out of my mind, all my teeth are now ruined.

Hello from Slovenia-EU,

Here is my story if someone needs information about titanium implants.
I become very ill 8 years ago. My life was like vegetation. I researched around all Europe and USA to found doctor or person who can help me.
After 3 years when I totally exchange my lifestyle I found reason for my problems, It vas silver fillings. After 2 years extreme detoxify – I am lucky that I had support from Dr. Andrew Cutler, one of the best doctor in the world for amalgam detoxify – I got 50 % of my life and my health back. But not all.  First I thought that maybe my body is damaged from 15 years of 7 amalgams filling. Than I was shocked when I got information about titanium problems. I had 3 titanium implants with 5 zirconium teeth on. Doctors in my country have told me that titanium is not case for my problems. At that time my problem was:
headache, sinusitis, bleeding gums, pain in the left hand - side where they were implants, problems with vision, problems with memory, great fatigue, without energy, pain in the area of implants, gastro problems. Doctors in my country said that they can’t take out titanium implants safety and that I will have problems with bone after operation. But I investigate a lot again and I got a lot of information from all the world. Some information was useful some not like in every case. But I had lucky again and I got contact about Dr. Shumantov. In my health story I met more that 300 doctors from around the world but I can say that Dr. Shumantov is one of the best doctor and person which I know. He operates in USA and couple of time every year at Europe. I decided that I go to Sofia where he operates in Europe. I was very happy with his professionalism. He told me everything about titanium and what he will do, before operation and I was shocked how easy he removed 3 titanium implants with reverse system. All 3 implants took out in 40 minutes. After that he put new bone material and I come every day to control. After 7 days I go back to my country. Now after 8 month I can tell you: My only mistake was that because of my scary what doctor in Slovenia said, I didn’t take titanium implants out before. In the meantime they disappeared almost everyone my problems which I had before that operation. No headache, no sinusitis, no bleeding gums, no pain in the left hand - side where they were implants, no problems with vision, no pain in the area of implants. It is truth that I still have some energy and tired problems but I think that my body after all problems with amalgam and titanium need more time to recover. Maybe some problems will stay but  8 year ago my life was vegetation; today I got 80 % my life back and totally new way of life. My next part of operation is put zirconium implants in. My story was broadcast on Slovenian TV. I wish that all of you can solve problems with health and especially with teeth. And believe me: Dentist can destroy your life. If you wish more information and contact of Dr. Shumantov you can contact me.

Igor, thank you so much for this information.  It is very brave of you and I will be actually passing on this information to a good friend of mine who is suffering from Multiple Sclerosis from what I believe is systemic toxicity from a titanium implant allergy.  Thank you again for sharing your story.  I hope all is well with you.  :::hugs:::

I know this topic is old but I am extremely scared and desperate by this point, Dentists see nothing wrong with the tooth though my oral health is in the decline.. My overall health is actually, This all started 5 months ago when I had fillings done. If anyone has a list of symptoms from dental resin reaction or allergy? That would be amazing thank you in advance. That is if anyone reads this. I would list all I have been through but its a pretty large list of things. If it will help at all however, I will list it.

hi James.I forgot all about my post here.I am not sure about fillings ,but part of my prob turned out to be silent reflux. The awful bacteria is landing around my molar and tongue on RH side.using ranitadine-
please do list problems!some of mine were chills/no energy/feeling sick/food makes worse
My symptoms include "peeling" of the skin on the inside of both my cheeks, burning tongue and overall mouth sensitivity. It's been going on for three years now and I'm at the end of my rope. It hasn't gotten worse in three years, but it also hasn't gotten better

I had some bonding work done on my upper front teeth, Scotch bond then composite.  The following day I awoke to a coughing fit, which continued, pounding headache, sore throat, and an extreme chemical/bitter taste.  After a month I also developed, joint pain, hormonal issues and intermittent numbness and pins and needles on my upper lip.
I had the bonding replaced with a different composite, this time with one that I had used in the past without a problem. But I gained no improvement from my symptoms.
Had the material removed, and gained some improvement, had nothing on my teeth for a few weeks.
I had the bonding replaced for the third time, with a composite that is considered to be one of the most inert composites for individuals who are sensitive. I felt confident that this would be the last of it. But unfortunately, all my symptoms returned, plus, alternating very dry mouth, then lots of excess saliva, to the point I need a towel on my pillow!
I did the Clifford’s test for compatibility to dental materials, which found all dental composites to be unsuitable, apart from two. I was told my case was most peculiar.
Had the third composite drilled off, with loss of enamel to front teeth, but I still have symptoms.
I believe the Scotchbond adhesive is my problem; I am getting sustained and continual exposure to this material. It encases the face and reverse of my front teeth. I think it has left me sensitised to other dental materials, if I could get rid of this, maybe my reaction to composites would settle down.
I was referred to specialist consultant, who told me, that he could see no adhesive on my teeth. But I know my teeth, and I can see, feel and taste it. He also told me, that adhesive wouldn’t stay on teeth for this long.  Although his advice conflicts with what I have read about set adhesive been extremely difficult to remove. All he could offer was drugs to halt excess saliva!
I am at a complete loss, what to do, I need to remove residual adhesive, which is hard to distinguish from enamel and then repair my damaged teeth............

I have same issue with same Scotchbond universal. I was lucky i have restoration on top. They removed all composite and most adhesive. 2 month without filling on tooth, hurt little bit. Every day better and better. That nasty toxic sheet going out little by little.
What i can do later, if i need to put new filling what adhesive I can use safely, or just pull a tooth.

According to the article I've linked below, it seems that the reason why many of you are feeling worse after replacing amalgams with composite resins is not because of the composite resins themselves but perhaps instead from improper removal of the amalgam.  If amalgam fillings are removed improperly there can be a high level of exposure of mercury to the body, therefore poisoning you and making you feel even worse.  Seems logical to me, It's all in here...   http://www.qnhshop.com/images/QNH/dental/Making%20the%20Right%20Dental.pdf

Even if amalgam removed improper way, all mercury intoxication will be gone in month or two. Problems with composite linked to adhesive they use to glue composite to tooth.

I got a terrible burn on the roof of my mouth when my dentist added acrylic to my denture and held it against the roof of my mouth. The longer he kept it there the hotter it got. He said it had something to do with the polymer. What would cause a pretty severe burn like this?

I am afraid I will have to have my teeth taken out.  The dentist that applied the resin did a filling what has turned black.  It started with goo on my teeth but no one believed me.  I also knew I had something wrong within 48 hours.  Also, this was applied to my recessions I 18months later have a nylon like fiber wrapped around all my teeth.   I was 8 dentists, 3 ENT's.   Had culture done by GP, since no dentist would take me seriously.  E-coli in mouth.  Went to Beverly Hills saw a oral surgeon who put me on a oral solution "Daniel's" has four ingredients in it.  Now clear for infection.  This this effected my nose, eye's, face, skin all over body but mostly face.   ENT put me on humidifier C-pap, salt nose rinse, salivary gland compresses....OH forgot hair, nails, and digestive tract. My eyes filled with fluid on lids, runny lost vision left eye for six hours blurred vision.  crape paper, flakey wrinkled skin.  I found trident gum which I was using to try and pull off some of the goo caused it to escalate.  WOW.  had allergy testing before I figured this was all connected.  Very high reaction to dust mites.  I now have to do the testing of resin used, am calling my attorney to sue the dentists who told me to my face I was delusional, a fantom, or just took my money, I am suffering and have an appt. on the 19th of nov. 2015 at Loma Linda University, this time with more knowledge and hope I don't leave crying.  It has taken almost two years of my life away and in symptoms are still escalating.

I read your white resin post, I also have been through hell, same as you.  My whole mouth and mucosa is ruined. This was a long time ago for you.  What what the outcome???? I have seen 8 dentists, etc....until I finally insisted my MD do a culture.  I had an infection to top it off.

HI,
Right now I have wax from the outside of cheese wrapped around a tooth that has been root canaled and filled. I get a numbness and burning in my mouth from this tooth. I definetely react to dental products. One way to avoid them is to get a blood test for antigens. There is a group in Colorado, Clifford Consulting, that is the only place I know of that tests for dental allergies. They will give you a list of all the products the dentist can or can't use on you as well as a lits of the groups you react to. It's been the most useful thing I've ever had. I take it to denstists and I can usually avoid what I'll react to. The reason I'm having problems now is that I was tested several years ago and have developed more sensitivities. Hope this helps

Hi, welcome to my world.  I am also allergic to acrylates,  formaldehyde resin and DHP.  Every single day is affected via, foundation shampoo moisturizer eye cream sun lotion nail polish and the list goes on and on.

The only toothpaste I can use is Kingfisher, the red box one.  Nail polish is now Nubar.  If you want to know anything more abt products please contact me.  For the past 3 years life is now different with every single thing I use on my body.

I also had my mercury  fillings removed also when I have a filling my dentist not only uses a white filling but leaves something out that I am allergic to.  Each side of my tongue is awful to see.  Please see a dermatologist and she will patch test you and give you a print out of what you are allergic to.

My list is endless.

To everyone who is reading this message Please ask your dentists which material did they use or are going to use.

Mine was Filtek Z250.

I'm barely alive.

Filtek Z250 is fine, pretty descent composite. After cured almost inert.  The question is what adhesive they put. Was you composite properly cured? Adhesives used to bond composite fillings are way more toxic than composite fillings.

And here I am again. After 2 years of suffering I finally removed the veneers.

The first few days after the procedure were just a nightmare for me (nausea, dizziness, headache and the rest of my existing symptoms).
I'm still feeling horrible, but my saliva is not yellow anymore in the morning (I'm not a smoker) and the stickiness has been reduced a little bit.

The thing is that composite resin cannot be cleaned completely because it blends with tooth enamel. So I still have this **** in my mouth!

I just don't get it why dentists do not provide us with more information about the risks of having composite veneers???

composite does not blend with enamel. I suggest you veneers were glued on adhesive and that adhesive is the case.

Your article should be on the Front headline of every newspaper in the
United States for the world to see. This plastic crap and whatever go's with it is causing way to much harm to be legal to use. This Kind Of Filling Should be Outlawed.

Look on the internet a story about the Actor **** Van dike I think it was him
he had Implant's in his mouth for many years Then he had them removed
I do think that is how his story went. You have my sympathy Do not know if this is the cause of your problem but i do know you are in much discomfort.
I am pretty much through with any root canals or the white plastic filling's and
Definitely an implant. It might work for some but they are welcome to it.

I would use your teeth till the end and pull after avoiding all fillings. Dentures are much safer options. I messed up with two fillings and not going to put more. First one was amalgam and replaced with composite and it was ok. Second composite i removed and have no filling on one tooth  now, hurt, but better than being poisoned by scotch bond universal.
Dentures and partials are also made from composite resin materials.
