Brittle crackling teeth of 1.5 year old

My baby is 1.5 years old. Though on outside food, he still enjoys breastmilk and usually sleeps while sucking breastmilk. This, as per a dentist, has weakened his upper front 4 teeth, they have discolored, are brittle and have cracks on them. The gums are also a shade darker than the usual pink. The dentist says nothing can be done about them now and suggested no corrective action, just to avoid sleeping him off on breastmilk. As he is very young and has a long way to go before these teeth fall off, I request you to please help me by suggesting an appropriate gum ointment/cream or whatever to help his damaged teeth get back to their normal pearly shade and to avoid any damage to his other teeth also. Please help.

This sounds like more than a dental problem to me.  I would get a second opinion, because this isn't adding up.
