The other day I noticed that on the inner part, near the right side of the roof of my mouth, there was a slight, hard bump slightly above my crown (right molar). It is about an inch from the crown, so more towards the roof. The crown would hurt slightly when I chewed, but it was nothing unbearable, so I did not think much of it. I can feel it with my tongue most of the time. It seems to be the same color as the rest of the gums, but there does seem to be a small red-pinkish dot below it, but not actually on the bump.
I have been carefully brushing it the last few days, and it doesn't seem to be bothering me as much. It does not really hurt when I chew anymore, but the bump has me concerned. My biggest concern is that when I push against the bump either with my tongue or with my finger, the crown begins to hurt. It does not hurt to brush the crown and doesn't hurt normally. It only hurts when I push on the bump. When I push on the bump, no pus or blood comes out.
I am not a smoker so I am not really concerned with it being cancer. I am thinking more on the lines of something with the root, but wouldn't the pain be worse? So, I am just wondering if it is something serious that I need to immediately go see a dentist for. It has only been there about 3 days, so I may just need time for it to go away, but I have never had anything like this before so I am bit worried.
