Burning front tooth pain.

I'm having excruciating pain in one of my front teeth. Many years ago, I had a root canal and cap put on it. In the past few days, I'm experiencing a burning pain in the upper part of the tooth and gums. The pain will radiate from the tooth to the entire side of my face (right front tooth and right side of my face). I can feel a very sore spot under the upper part of my lip as well as soreness right below my nose if I press on it. The pain is off and on but sleeping has become difficult. I will be seeing a dentist when my insurance kicks in (11/26) but I need to figure something out till then. I concerned that there is an infection under the cap/crown. Has anyone experienced this or does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Thank you for the info. I will see if I can get some meds from my Dr. to hold me over.

You may have an abscess forming underneath your tooth.  It would be best to start a course of antibiotics possibly.  If you can't see the dentist, perhaps you can see your primary care physician and get some medication for it to hold you over.
