Can an infected wisdom tooth cause illness?

So I got a severe cold recently after being super healthy. Sore throat started then nasal congestion now chest. I'm feeling the most pain in my lower left jaw where my wisdom tooth is. I x-rayed a year ago and they were all fine. But i can feel the swelling and it hurts out of nowhere. Could it be infected?

Yes, it can.  Depending on the severity of the infection it could effect other areas of your body.  For a week before my wisdom teeth were removed, the dentist put me on antibiotics.

I agree - see a dentist.  Hope it goes well as well as anything can go with a dentist   = )
