Cost of Cosmetic Crowns

I was recently evaluated by a dentist for possible veneer, mainly for cosmetic reasons.  However, given the condition of my teeth, he recommended crowns instead of veneers.  He also recommended crown lengthening because my teeth are small and "too short".  It would cost me $600 for whitening (ZOOM), $4500 for crown lengthening-6 teeth and about $2500 per crown (including provisional crown, post and porcelein crown).  I have several questions:
1) Is this overpriced?.   If so, what is the reasonal price for each crown?
2) Is crown lengthening a good idea? Any negatives?
3) What is the best way to find reputable dentist and know that I'm not being overcharged?

hey it really depends on where you are. Here in NYC everything is really expensive and it depends on what dentist you go to. If you to one of the "celebrity dentists" like Dr. Shawn Sadri and other park avenue types they can charge you anywhere up to 3000 dollars just for the crown. But you can find much cheaper prices especially in other parts in the country

Fees vary from area to area so it would be difficult to comment on the fees.CLP is a viable procedure and it would be difficult to give you an opinion without seeing the case.There are not many draw backs if done by a capable professional.I think the best way to find a dentist is by reputation, asking people you know and even having the dentist give you the names of patients that are WILLING to discuss similar treatment. You should certainly get another opinion from another dentist before starting your treatment.
