Deep cleaning and Root planing?

I recently had a tooth extracted and was told I should go for a cleaning. My dental practice did full
mouth xrays and measured the gums between my teeth and highly recommended deep cleaning
and root planing. I'm almost 72 and not sure if I want to go through this at this point in my life due to
other more serious health problems I have. What would you do? (I'm thinking of cancelling).

Thanks in advance!
