Dental Implant v Apicectomy

I have recently been to an cosmetic dentist and an endodontist about getting implants or having an apicectomy. Can you give any advice about the success rate and indications for apicectomy? How long is that likely to last compared to an implant? I am quite nervous about the possibility of needing bone grafting. Is this procedure fairly safe or should I say that I will only have the implant if I don't need grafting and then consider something like a denture or bridge?

Many thanks for your help.

I tend to stay away from apicos on posterior teeth(molars) the success rate is not as high as I would like and over the years they usually have to be redone or the tooth is extracted.I would not shy away from bone grafting, it has become an every day procedure with the advent of implantology. If at all possible I would place the implant rather than having to involve two or more other teeth for a fixed bridge.I am not into removal partial if at all possible.

I would imagine an endodontist should have very good reliable results for their apicoectomies as they likely have specialized equipment to work with.  Unless a general dentist is able to do them at the level of the specialist, I would personally prefer the endodontist perform the procedure.

As long as the apico heals, it should be good to go as long as the tooth holds up in the mouth.  Bone grafting is quite safe.  It's hard to say what is best for you without examining your mouth and considering your financial boundaries and long term goals.

Some white patches on the tongue can be normal.  Commonly geographic tongue is a benign condition that some people experience.  Candida albicans infections an also create white spots.  Here's  link to some possible causes:
