Dental issues with 3 year old

Our daughter saw the dentist today, and he was concerned about a few things:

1. She has a cavity in one of her molars
2. She has very deep fissures in her molars
3. Her teeth are very crowded, and he highly doubts there'll be room for her adult teeth
4. He was curious about the fact that she teethed in a very abnormal teething pattern and the fact that her final molars came in very late (she cut her upper lateral incisors first, at almost 11 months, then a lower central incisor, then her two upper central incisors, then a lower lateral incisor, then her other lower central incisor etc...). Her final molars did not start coming in until she was 3, and they were not fully erupted until a couple months later.

He's referring her to a pediatric dentist. She is on the spectrum, and does not cooperate well, so xrays were not possible. With all of these put together, is it possible she has some sort of dental problem? If so, what could it be? She is still a thumb sucker and also grinds her teeth somewhat.

It is just her milk teeth. So I dont think it might be a big issue.Even abnormal teething pattern can be solved by putting braces. We used take our kid to Dr,Stephen Phelan at Toronto for routine check up.She had braces on her teeth!

Also, tonight as we were brushing her teeth, we noticed that she has three front teeth that have eroded enamel near the gumlines. Can this be fixed? Is it worthwhile fixing in baby teeth?

Thank you. At what age would they start expansion of the arches? Our daughter is currently only 3 and a half.

Hi there,
It is common to have depressions and grooves called pits or fissures .For such conditions sealants are used. Sealants are thin plastic coating painted onto the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, or molars. Pit and fissure sealants prevent the propagation of decay. Crowding can be caused by improper eruption of teeth and early or late loss of primary teeth. Space can be created by expansion of the arches or extraction of teeth. Correction of crowding can help prevent dental decay and periodontal disease. The prognosis and final outcome can be determined only after a thorough clinical evaluation. Hope it helped.
Best luck and regards!
