Did my hygentist mess up?

Hi.  I just had my teeth cleaned 3 weeks ago.  I now have brown plaque spots on my teeth. For a week after the cleaning, I felt like I had grit in my mouth.  I called the dentist and they said that they never heard of that happening before.  I am really upset, and my dentist wants me to pay to see him. Could they have scraped too hard and ruined my teeth? Any suggestions???

hmmm. my spots came off with a professional cleaning. its something in that particular mouthwash that turns teeth brown. whatever the spots are it is doubtful its tarter. tarter takes a long time to build up and its usually between teeth and around the gum line so the beginning stages are not very obvious. i would go back and have it checked. if your enamel is normal i doubt its anything serious. please post and tell us what caused your problem after its checked!  good luck.

HI!  Thanks for responding.  Actually they gave me Act mouthwash.  I didn't even think about that.  I am going for a second opinion.  It's actually tartar, not plaque...my mistake.  I just want to be assured that they didn't ruin my teeth.  How did you remove the spots?  Thanks!
