Had my tooth refilled now in lots of pain 2weeks later

I had my tooth worked on over a week ago this wens day will be two weeks, anyways they drilled my old filling out and refilled it with a plastic one after my mouth thawed out I was in pain it went away for about three days after that my tooth just throbs all the time it is so painful, I have to take Advil with ibmotrin in it just to get it to stop hurting it feels like it did the first day they refilled it. I can't eat on that side if I drink it touches my tooth it hurts, what could be the reason for this?

Thanks, pain killers work and then I had a gross taste in my mouth about 2 and a half weeks after the throbbing started so now I'm thinking absets, my dentist says I need a root cannal, but I'm wondering maybe it's just infection thanks again.

Hi,
This can be nerve pain caused by exposure of the roots or it can be because of infection at the site of filling. If painkillers are not helping then you should consult your dentist for an examination. Sometimes refilling of the tooth may be necessary.
