Has this happened to anyone else with Dental extraction?

I had my upper teeth removed on June 25th, had complications and very slow healing (dry socket on left side, little bone pieces protruding out of my gums.  In August I was still having severe pain and they did a second surgery (alveoplasty) on the 19th.  The pain has never gone away and is worse.  The pain feels like very severe pressure and starts at my gums and goes up my face into my eye and also back to the ear, it also sometimes radiates to the right side of my face and into my lower mouth and jaw. it feels like the pain is in the inside of my bone..  The dentist that did the surgery was very good but told me that he doesn't have experience with this sort of thing and can't help me.  He sent me to an oral surgeon who felt my face and decided I have nerve pain and prescribed amitriptyline for nerve pain, so far it has done nothing.  Does anyone know what this is?  Has it maybe happened to you?  Thank you
