It's been 4 months since you have posted so hopefully this problem has been resolved. Since your dentist decided to do fours crowns, I assumed she made that decision to go ahead with treatment based on healthy looking roots without signs of pathology. Most likely, since you are only 23 years old, the nerves in your teeth are large and healthy producing a inflammation response to the procedure which could result in reversible or irreversible pulpitis. Sometimes dentists recommend an anti-inflammatory such as Advil to reduce pain and an antibiotic for possible bacterial infection. Discomfort usually dissipates completely within 24 hours and sensitivity issues in about 2 weeks indicating a reversible pulpitis. Hot and cold symptoms that tend to continue after the source is removed, causing throbbing pain and headache need immediate attention for possible root canal treatment. It is possible that by grinding too much tooth structure away or by removing diseased tooth structure (decay) that the nerve was inadvertently exposed. Grinding away too much tooth structure happens when teeth are rotated and the dentist is striving for an esthetic appearance or if it is required to make room for a certain type of crown. Should you have to pay for the extra treatment if necessary. Yes, if the root canals are necessary. It sounds like you have lost confidence in this dentist. It is highly recommended that you have an endodontist evaluate the nerve health in the tooth. I know of a wonderful endodontist who is conservative, ethical and pain free. Also, I would never hesitate to get another professional opinion.
OK SO I WENT TO THE DENTIST ON MONDAY. THEY TOOK X RAYS OF MY TEETH AND THEY LOOKED FINE. AND SHE SAID THAT ONLY 1 CAP ON MY UPPER- RIGHT SIDE COULD USE LITTLE ADJUSTING. BUT OTHER THEN THAT SHE IS RECOMMENDING A ROOT CANAL.......... 1 TOOTH AT A TIME TO SEE WHICH ONE IS CAUSING PAIN. BUT WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO GO PAY FOR A ROOT CANAL WHEN I DIDNT HAVE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SHE STARTED DRILLING THEM?
If you need a root canal, and it sounds like you may, just make sure they aren't using anything with formaldehyde as its active ingredient..commonly known as Sargenti Paste/Cement, N2, RC2B, RC2W. An endo likely won't use it. If they do use it, even if they justify it, don't let them. Permanently sealing formaldehyde (and sometimes lead and mercury) in a living person's mouth can never be good and in some cases is down right dangerous. Most root canals are not really that bad, ones done with formaldehyde can be life altering and life threatening. Find another dentist.
if your still in pain you need to go back until they fix it... you already paid for it and its not right that your still in pain.... complain complain and DEMAND that they fix it.... you were fine b4 you went in there and when you left you were in pain.... im sure the next thing they are going to say is that you need a root canal....you should get another opinion b4 going back to that same dentist and if they say something different then what the 2nd opinion said atleast you have that to work off of...
no i dont take glucosamine. but i really think she may have drilled my teeth down to far. cuz i had crowns before these on the same teeth and when i got them done the first time which was like 15 years ago. and they lasted a really long time. what can i do if the dentist did that too my teeth after paying all that money . for her to drill the **** out of my teeth. it was a chinese dentist.
true could feel normal and not be... when you go in the will put some articulating paper on some forceps and have you bite down and grind your teeth back n forth to see where you having contact points....no big deal....white crowns are made of acrylic or Porcelain and could be fused to metal....
drilling to low could be a cause of some kind of pain, she could have got close to the nerve and heated it up and that would also cause you some pain....
as far as the glucosamine, im not to sure... i always knew it heled with pain from arthritis and things of that nature....any kind of joint pain is usually associated with those meds... are you taking them for a TMJ problem?. is your jaw hurting you?
HEY! thanks for the response. i am still having the hot and cold pains. i have just scheduled an appnt for monday the 22nd. i havent had a root canal on any of my teeth yet. BUT i did call the dentist today and she said to come in and they are gonna check it out. my bite doesnt feel off . it feels like a normal bite. but ive heard it could feel normal but it may not??? true/false? when i did call she mentioned a whole lot about a root canal and the nerve trying to tell me something. i really hope i dont have to get a root canal. .... i couldnt stand the pain of the renewal crowns. it was the worst pain in my life. in my eyes worst then a women going in labor lol.
NOTE: COULD IT BE BECAUSE SHE DRILLED MY TOOTH TOO SMALL OR CLOSE TO THE NERVE? IVE NEVER FELT MY TOOTH SO SMALL BEFORE. IT WASNT LIKE THAT THE FIRST TIME I GOT A CROWN ON THEM. THEY WERENT DRILLED DOWN AS MUCH AS SHE DID THEM.
WHAT DOES GLUCOSAMINE DO? AND HELP?
MY CROWNS ARE WHITE. I DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE MADE OF.
did you have rootcanals on these teeth?..... if so there might be a periodontal pocket somewhere causing the pain.... also your bite might be off,....have you been back to see dentist sine he put the crowns on?
uh - no real clues except that it should've settled by now. i had crown redone - first one chipped off after a couple years. the new one (metal) was seriously painful for over 6 months. i took GLUCOSAMINE and i think it helped, by the way. a specialist said he thought it should be root canaled. it was barely showing signs of life. i waited a little more and it has gradually become almost good as new, and avoided the root canal.
anyways i think your problem is different from mine; i think my problems were at the end of the root [dentist yanked too hard to get the old crown off]. i have HEARD that sensitive tooth toothpaste can help sensitive teeth, even it they're crowned...?
sorry for your predicament,
any answers to my question???? very important ..
