I am 21 and have two baby teeth... Im worried

I used to joke about it when I was growing up tha the two teeth on either side of my front teeth where "baby teeth" becasue they where so small... Considering I have always been afraid of the dentist I hadn't gone for over 10 years. My teeth are in good condition and I hadn't had any dental pain. Now that I am 21, and have my own health insurance, I wanted to get checked out from doctors and dentists...etc I recently went to the dentist and se took a bunch of x-rays and then told me a couple of different things... 2 of my wisdom teeth (The top) have grown in but havn't emerged from the gums and may never. My 1 bottom wisdom tooth needs to be surgically removed due to it pushing on my back tooth, and that the other wisdom tooth doesn't exist. Along with a few small cavitys that can easily be taken care of.... I simply asked her about the two small teeth and she informed me that my adult teeth never grew in and that they were infact "baby teeth." She said that they may not fall out till Im well in my 30's or later. Or they could fallout sooner... She suggested implants. I Googled it and learned of this horrific procedure...

Any advice ????

I am still paranoid about the dentist and it stems from childhood. Does anyone relate?

Sincerely,
A five year old in a 21 year olds body

Having baby teeth with no permanent teeth below them is fairly common.  I too would tell you not to worry about them until they get loose and fall out on their own accord.  Each one will have a different life span.  Continue to brush and floss your teeth on a daily basis, getting regular checkups every six months or so. I have known of individuals who have your situation and have held on to their baby teeth until their late 50s or early 60s.  Only when they fall out consider a bridge or an implant.  An implant is not a "horrific procedure", and often is the best way to go when the time comes.

Regarding your two baby teeth, if I was you I wouldn't worry about it until they actually do fall out, and who knows, they may never fall out.   There's an old saying.....if it ain't broke, don't fix it.    IF and when they decide to come out on their own, which may not be for another 10 or even 20 years by the dentist's own admission, deal with it then.   My advice is don't mess with them now if they're causing you no problem at all.   Teeth are weird.......those baby ones may last your whole life if they've lasted this long.   Also remember that whenever you look up things on the internet, such as implants, things can sound and look a LOT worse than they really are.   I work with a guy who had two implants just last year and he said it's the best thing he ever did.   And trust me, he's a 35 year old in a 2 year old's body !  :-)
