Jaw/Mouth pain 2 weeks after temporary crown

I had two temporary crowns put in a couple of weeks ago.  They were both on the right side.  One was the top, back molar, the other was the bottom back molar.  The dentist said they didn't need root canals.  Since then, I have been taking ibuprofen 2-3 times a day and have been in for 2 bite adjustments because my jaw is really hurting.  He said that even a few 'microns' can make a difference and cause pain.  He said he thought the pain was muscular.  My jaw hurts from the joint near my ear and sometimes the pain travels down to my front bottom tooth.  Any ideas?
What about when the permanent crown comes in?  Will it still hurt?  This really stinks because it didn't even hurt when I went in for my checkup and cleaning.  Now it's constant pain.

At 46 I am just learning if it doesn't bother then leave it alone! These dentist's are so greedy and crown happy any more that we as patient's must open our eyes and resist the treatment that they try to convince us that we so desperately need...BS! Check out my blog and read what happened to me....talk about a painful experience for two crowns!
Sorry to hear of your experience and I hope you don't have nerve damage that is causing this pain as I have had crown in previous years and experienced pain for only a brief period.

I am experiencing exactly what you've experienced. I need help understanding what to expect.

It's been 2 weeks since the 2nd temporary crown was placed on my left back tooth, and it still hurts from the joint near my ear and the pain travels down to my lower jaw.

Have you recovered yet? What did you do to fix this pain?
