My dentist won't fit braces?

Hi, I am male, aged 18 and currently frustrated because my dentist apparently can't fit braces on my teeth. I really need the braces, and the dentist has frequently tried to dodge around the subject when I've asked them about it. Their excuse is "your teeth are too brittle and fitting braces could damage them even more", this isn't my fault as I have always looked after my teeth, but my adult teeth grew through badly and the enamel quickly wore down weakening my teeth.

Now, I have no enamel on my teeth at all and the dentist has said no more can be done and that they are fine! My teeth are also discoloured too and I need cosmetic surgery also, which I really can't afford! Can you give me any advice as my teeth are in a bad state and wrecking my confidence with nearly every stage of my life?  If you have any questions that would help you give a better answer, I would be happy to answer! Thanks.

Actually, I think it might be enamel hypoplasia. Should I go to the doctor or dentist about this? Thanks

Thanks for the advice, the condition you mentioned definetely sounds like what I'm suffering from, as my teeth weren't like this as a young child, just when my adult teeth grew through.

You are probably suffering from a rare disease named " amelogenesis imperfecta ". There is no conservative treatment so far, other than crowning each affected tooth. If the goal of your orthodontic treatment is cosmetic, prosthetic rehabilitation can achieve same outcome, if not better cosmetic outcome. Seeing a prosthodontist is advised.
