My temporary crown smells!

I can't seem to get an answer on weather or not this is normal.  The long and short of it is that my temporary crown smells badly.  If I wiggle the temp a little and place my tongue on the gumline, I can taste the bad stuff from in there.  Is this normal?  I've had the temp for about 3 weeks. I rinse with Listerine and brush about 3 or 4 times a day.  Can I remove this thing and clean under it? I have the paste stuff to put it back on , but will this be extremely painful?

Taking the temporary crown off yourself wouldn't be advisable.  You also shouldn't be in the temporary for longer than 3 weeks.  The taste and smell could be due to the temporary being improperly seated or it has become loose and "stuff" is getting up underneath there.  See your dentist soon!
