Ok This is what the dentist prescribed...

Since i told him I didn't want to take the Clindamycin because it made me so ill, he prescribed Cephalexin. Does anybody know anything about this drug? I looked it up and it said it is similar to penicillen. Will it work since the penicillen didn't? Sorry to sound so paranoid, but my dentist is not very easy to talk to about this and I am so scared. I hate when people/doctors think you're exaggerating. Believe me, I want to find a drug that will take care of this! Then maybe the pain will go away! Thanks

Patty

Thanks again for your help! I will give the Cephalexin a try and if that doesn't work, I'll TRY to get the dentist to give me the Azithromycin. It is so nice to come here and have caring people help! Thank you so much!

Cephalexin (Keflex) is a good antibiotic as well.  The similarity with penicillin is only important for people who are allergic to penicillin (as they will also be allergic to keflex).  Personally, I would go with Azithromycin (or Clindamycin) if penicillin isn't working, but Cephalexin is different enough it might work.  You can tell if its working if the pain/swelling go away in 4-5 days.
