Old tooth used as Temporary Crown

Hello,

I'd recently had cosmetic work done on a front (chipped) tooth for the sake of crown work. What's got me curious is that the dentist placed back in my old chipped tooth as a temporary crown.

How common is it for a dentist to do that?

Mind you, I'll be getting the permanent one this week.

Not completely uncommon but it depends on the cosmetics and whether or not it'll suffice as a temporary and do what a temporary is suppose to do.  Is the chipped tooth a crown or is it your natural tooth?

I agree with you.  Its always more important to let patients have a good experience and feel confident about things than to do too much before things are settled down.

Thanks for the reply Jerome. Yes, it was my natural tooth and it's all been done today. I supposed I'd been a bit anxiety-driven over the past two weeks what with this temporary and another recently installed crown not fitting well. But 'am feeling much better now. :-)

Lesson learned? Don't start on a new crown until a previously installed one feels well seated and all.

Thank you for your participation...But, I've no clue how that pertains to my question.
