Pain 4 weeks after getting wisdom teeth pulled

I had my wisdom teeth pulled, and everything went to plan. I had pain for about 1 and a half weeks. Then all my pain went away and i slowy used my jaw more, and started doing my regular day to day activities. Then suddenly about 4 weeks after the surgery i have had extreme pain on my lower right side of my jaw. It just started back up, out of no where. I didnt hit it, or accidentaly chew something hard. Also when i was recovering after the surgery my lower right side took the longest to recover. I have heard about a condition called TMJ. I dont know if that is what is affecting me but i would really like to know what is. I was just wondering what your thoughts on my jaw are, and if you can help.

i had my wisdom teeth removed on 24th apr 2010, the sweling on my cheek is still there with some pain , when i touch my cheek i can feel a bump probably a size of a golf ball, or probably smaller than that, i can open my mouth half of what i use to open before , the dentist told me that the swelling would reduce starting from 3rd day , and would be gone by 5th day , today is 5th day but swelling is not gone , i am really scared , how much time wil it take for the swelling to be gone

Temporomandibular disorder generally refers to masticatory muscles and temporomandibular joints pain in a narrow sense. In a borad sense, head, neck, shoulder, as well as orofacial dental pain may be associated with tmd. Seeing a tmj specialist or orofacial pain specialist is advised.
