There is white puss underneath the back part of my tongue?

Ok, so the question is more so for my boyfriend. He has been experiencing some swelling of his glands due to his allergies and yesterday he started complaining about the back of his tongue. This morning I told him to look under his tongue to see if he could see anything. He called me to the bathroom freaking out because underneath the far right side of his tongue was a bunch of white puss. He cleaned it out and went and got some mouth rinse. The pharmacist told him to use the mouth rinse for a day or so and if problem persisted to see a doctor.

I'm just curious as to what this could be. Everything I've researched online hasn't really helped me. It's not a cancker sore or and ulcer. Could it be a possible infection? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Michelelee

Hope that everything turns out good.

Out of curiosity, please let me know what the doctor diagnoses.  Is this pus underneath the tongue or near the back of the throat?  I pictured it to be under the tongue.

The rinse hasn't helped. He actually scheduled a doctors appointment today. He started having a bit of a fever last night and woke up with one this morning. He said it feels the way it does when you have strep throat. So hopefully the doctor will be able to figure it out. Thank you for your help.

It can be a variety of things and a clinical examination would be best to figure out whats going on.

Has the rinse helped at all with the white pus?  Its possible he may have an infection of the salivary gland on the floor of the mouth underneath the tongue.  It could also be food stuck underneath, trauma or an ulceration of some sort, candidiasis (which is a fungal infection) or it could be perfectly normal such as white spongy nevus.

Any other symptoms?
