new dentures
I got full dentures yesterday and got 6 lower teeth removed. My top denture is ok as I had one in the top anyway so I was used to it and this one is great that I have got but the bottom one is giving me difficulties. It is only 24hours since I had it done but I am finding that it is rising up when I speak and eat...

Look up the company doing the dental work. I am devastated by the rough treatment, double billing (making me pay up front for the copay) $3000+ , U wanted the best they had, insurance would only pay for #2 quality, etc. ok.
Now I find out that they have had 900+ cases resolved by the BBB in the last 3 yrs, tell you you have to pay for things that are covered and also billing the insurance co. for the same and receiving payment and not refunding the patient. I don't want to give their name right now, they are on the ppo from my job and there are 3 class action lawyers compiling histories right now, online. They (the only one dentist on duty there, actually, pulled 11 teeth, including 5 roots from root-canal/crowns, with inadequate pain relief. First set of shots (lidocaine, I believe) only numbed my cheeks & lips, started the extractions. She kept saying I was only feeling pressure. Gave me another round of shots: hurt like hell the second time getting the shots, both times a lot of the med was expelled into my mouth and I had severe diarrhea afterward. Halfway through I was in such pain she offered/threatened to stop, send me home, and have me return 3+ wks. later on the one day of the month a "dental surgeon" would be able to "knock me out". I was already a bloody mess so told her to finish. 6 of the 11 extractions on my estimate of treatment were front teeth that were "whole" but the gum was receding from one; dentist told me I had periodontal disease and needed dentures. Had uppers 10 yr. ago w/no problems from wonderful dentist, now I have insurance so I paid upfront to upgrade to their "best". That is not what they jammed into my mouth. No "tissue-matching", look like bazooka bubble gum I have been verbally attacked by their "billing specialist" about why it says 12 extractions when there were only 11 there (5 roots where the crowns had deteriorated and broken. The orig. statement called for 11 extractions total, they are stating that there were 6 "surgical extractions", including 2 (of the 6)on the intact front teeth. No exrays to confirm periodontal disease, no antibiotics, no exrays AFTER pulling out 5 roots from root-canals in the past. I can feel a bone chip in one. My copay is $15 for each normal ext, surgical ext. are twice the amt. to the insurer and $71.50 each from me. They put (12) extractions on the final statement I left with, strange thing is after I paid $3000+ copay for the estimate of treatment, didn't make me pay for the one "mystery tooth" they are billing the ins. for. It was 1000 approx. for the "upgrade" to their best that I paid for; they stated the insurer would pay for the second level of "classic" dentures, but after really looking at the statement after work was done I saw many things, ex. that I had also paid for the total cost -$66 for the one level they told me the insurer would pay. Whew, am I worked up! I am going in there tonight to "clear up my so-called confusion about my bill. I looked up EVERYTHING, couldn't leave the house anyway since I couldn't bear the pain of inserting the denture. My uppers that were done 10yrs. ago I was having redone, and a new set on btm. are making sore spots in my upper palate, NEVER had problem with them, being done by private dentist, now pain from badly skilled denturist, They (neither set) have the veining that they are supposed to have "tissue-matching". She (billing specialist)a.k.a. BS, now tells me that since the bottom was an "immediate" denture it was not supposed to be the top quality (I PAID FOR).....My biggest concern right now, if there is a professional who could advise me, is their claim of performing "surgical-extractions", no adequate anesthesia, no exrays before of after to see if any fragments left (one for sure, but I don't want them touching me while I am still in pain, even from the needle punctures in the hard part of my lower gums,no stitches on any spots) The BS told me yesterday told me that since the old roots had to come out it makes it surgery. I told her the same set of dental pliers was used on ALL, i KNOW, completely awake and writhing in pain but didn't want to leave with half of teeth gone and no denture on btm. The ridge of gum is really choppy, not smooth, is this normal? Does it normally smooth out or should this have been stitched to control the resulting shape? Please respond, I have to go in there tonight. I got my upper dentures last week, she did a beautiful job as far as matching the color of my teeth to my natural bottom teeth, also got a new bridge on the bottom teeth. Question is, I could not figure out what looked different. Three of my front three teeth go in. Like the gum is round then the teeth go in making my upper lip look smaller and mouth go in. Can the dentist have this fixed? I noticed that all the other teeth on the Denture are smooth and flat under the gum. Can these be fixed? When I smile you can't tell, when I went before she finalized them to send them to the lab, I didn't notice this until a few days after I received them
Lower dentures are always a pain in the butt. For the upper denture you have your palate, which creates a wonderful suction keeping your top denture in place. However, on the lower you just have a ridge of thin bone. On top of that you have to fight with your tongue trying to kick out your denture. Very rare is a good fitting lower denture. A new denture is just like a new pair of shoes. Give it at least a week of constant day wearing. Always take them out at night. You will need to go back to the dentist for adjustment, but as far as staying in your mouth real well, you just may not have too much of a lower bony ridge for a good tight fit. Unfortunatly what you may have to do is keep a lot of denture adhesive on stock.

unstable full lower dentures could be caused by1: overextension of denture flange2: occlusion is not full balanced3: ill-fitting surface. Full lower denture always yields much more problems than full upper. Multiple adjustments are required.
I have new upper denture. Bottom are real. This is terrible. You said yours is ok. Mine, with a little powder stays thru coughing, talking everything except eating anything. When I eat it is all over the place. The bite does not feel good and some large areas of several bottom teeth never touch the denture.
Were your uppers fitting snugly? Did you have trouble with salad, hot dogs, peanuts? I am unable to grind up small or thin things.
