Thank you so much Dr. Tsang. Ok, good, it is like I have been biting them for so long it is just kind of like a permanent white strip now. My top wisdom teeth are actually all the way in and give me no trouble at all, it is really just the bottom two, and mainly the one in the picture more than the other. That is good to know though that it was not as bad as I have thought!

I have a bachelors of music in trumpet performance. I was told that because there is so much tension in the mouth and cheeks when playing trumpet that may be a reason why it would take so long? any truth to that?

Pictures a little bit hard to see cause of the discoloration but ya, the cheek biting in that back area next to the wisdom tooth should be gone once the wisdom tooth is gone.

I don't think a whole month is necessary for recovery from an extraction.  It seems like your extraction should be fine. Perhaps the other wisdom teeth are more complicated.  I got mine out 4 months ago and although eating was hard for about two weeks, I didn't have any problems with speaking and none of my patients noticed anything weird.

What musical instrument do you play?

Dr. Tsang I do have a question that I have been wondering about for sometime though, my wisdom teeth have been coming in for a while and I have hesitated to get them out because I am a musician who uses my mouth and I am going to have to take of a month from playing and I just have not had the realisitic possibility to do this in the past 3 years but my bottom wisdom teeth have bothered me because I tend to bite my cheek with them and it just hurts. It looks like this white strip on the side of my mouth is from this over and over again, will this go away when I get them out this summer?

Thanks doctor, so nice of you to follow up like this truly. Yes it is becoming "less defined" if that makes sense, like kind of fading away into the same color as the rest of the tongue. I cant take a picture now but tomorrow I will link a picture just to be sure. Once again, Dr. Tsang, thank you so much, really.

Doc, thank you. I was actually eating popcorn before I took the picture so I think that is maybe what you may have seen.

Probably nothing too serious.  May be an allergic reaction or some irritation causing the area to be red.  You may want to go get a dental check up anyways though.  It looks like there may be some tartar buildup on the back molars there.  Its recommended that you get a six month checkup every year.
