fixed spacer in child

OK my 7 year old has having problems with the space in her mouth. The dentist said we needed to put in a space maintainer and pull out her 4 canine teeth. So that when her other teeth start to fall out there will be space for them to come in. Since we put in the maint-fixed bilateral spacer the space where to canine teeth are suppose to be has almost closed. I have went and seen the dentist because the wire pushes on the bottom four front teeth which are all adult teeth. The bilateral spacer in on her first molars (not premolar). My question is should it be removed or is it normal for the space to close? And how are the spacers usually removed? Seeing how they are fixed!

After constant pain and full exrays and exam the right molar had nerve damage and was broken under my filling. Tooth was half dead, root infection and had to be extracted. Now dealing with extraction pain and just a sore mouth. SS soon as tooth was extracted no more nerve pain.

Did the dentist tell you what was going on?

It sounds like it may need a root canal therapy treatment.

Is this spacer on the bottom or the top or both?  It sounds like its on the bottom only.  Usually a space maintainer is used to maintain the space while the adult teeth erupt.  The space maintainer can be removed by cutting the wire and breaking it off, then polishing off the cement from the tooth.
