gum disease

I have had bleeding gums and gum disease for years. Im 28yrs old now. Each time i go to the dentist they tell me about best ways to clean and floss. I try my best but still never seems to go away. I have brought a very good new oral b electric toothbrush to ensure I clean to the best of my ability. I also floss. I have tried natural mouthwashes and toothpastes containing herbs like myrrh etc which are known to help keep gums healthy. Twice  I have been prescribed metronidazole and my gums get better but then seem to go back to the way they were. I have def seen and improvement since using electric toothbrush, flossing etc but still seem to have redish gums which bleed every now and then. My gums have receeded and I want to try my best to keep my gums as health as possible. Can anyone help or give any advice?
Many Thanks x

Electric toothbrush is a way to go, brush twice daily. When brushing angle your toothbrush at a 45 degrees angle towards the gumline and not the tooth.
I always say that "brushing" is really a not a right way to describe your oral hygiene care, it should be more of massaging your teeth and gum tissue. Do not brush back and forth, instead use tiny-tiny circular motion when brushing your teeth. Divide your mouth into 4 quadrants: upper-right, upper-left, lower-right, lower-left. Spend 30 seconds on each quadrant (Some electronic brushes out there do the time for you). Do not press too hard on your teeth when brushing, if you feel straining...switch to your non-dominant hand.

Flossing - floss once/daily. Wrap thread around two middle fingers, and get enough floss so that your two thumbs touch each other. For the upper arch use your thumbs, for lower arch use index fingers.
When inserting the thread to not jam it, jamming may lacerate tissue. Use see-saw motion to insert it carefully between teeth. Now, wrap the thread around the tooth and move it up and down, remove it via see-saw motion again. Repeat for the rest of the mouth

Bleeding means that there is calculus or more commonly known as plaque below your gum line. With the recession and bleeding, I would probably suggest for you to have professional cleaning done by hygienist every 3-4 months.
