Tooth pain after two root canals

I had two top front teeth root canals done in January. Five weeks ago I had the other two top teeth done. Off and on from Jan to Aug, I felt pain in one of the teeth done in Jan. Now, I am still feeling the same kind of pain I had before the two were done in August.  It is not a bad pain, more of an annoying ache, sometimes a bit sharper similar to the pain experienced when something cold like ice cream hits your teeth.  I have not been back yet since the ones done 5 weeks ago, I go next week, but my endodontist was already stymied by me in August.  He says I can't be experiencing pain in teeth with no roots but yet I am.  Do you know what this could possibly be?  Let me add that in my early 30's I wore braces for almost 3 yrs to correct a bite problem.  At that time, my orthodontist told me that sometimes braces in adults cause shorter roots, which I have seen on my xrays.  Is this part of the problem? Can you offer any advice? Thanks so much.

Yes braces can cause shorter roots , thats because they moved your teeth very quickly the is caused the roots to be shifted/shortened.... but that shouldnt be why your having pain now..... when you go back to the dentist have them take another xray, sometimes the apex (end) of the root can catch a right angle and there could possibly be just a tiny piece of nerve left in there, your dentist is right your shouldnt feel anything on those teeth because with a root canal, they take all the nerve out, which SHOULD mean no feeling.... but things happen and i have seen it b4..... go back and tell him that your in pain, DONT let them tell you everything is ok...YOUR in pain not them!....

Going back to your endodontist to have a follow-exam is advised. If there is no plausible pathlogy contributing to your pain is identified, seeing an orofacial pain specialist is advised.Keep in mind not all toothaches are odontogenous.
