causes for multiple root canals

I have had  6 root canals in a one year period, and may have another possible one starting.  In August of 2007 I had my routine cleaning and check up, it was found that I needed a filling.  I had this done in Auust as well, when the dentist injected the novacaine, I had a really strange sensation like a burst (I'm not sure how to explain it) but I new this was unlike any other injection and I said so to the dentist.  He noted this and my face bacame numb on the right side of my face, from the tip of my nose to my ear down to my chin.  The numbness lasted about 4-6 months. I don't know if that had anything to do with my root canals.  I had my first one in mid November, and the second one approximately 3 weeks later.  My dentist said he may have "tiped the nerve" when he injected me and did not charge me for the covering for the first root canal.  I had the third sometime in March, one in May and one in July and now one again in mid December.  The endodontist had a hard time the last time getting me numb enough to do the last root canal.  This many root canals does not seem normal to me, but my dentist says sometimes it happens.  The endodontist did not offer anything different. I floss two or three times a day and brush my teeth also two or three times a day (at least twice for both), I started using a Sonicare brush after the first two root canals.  Is there anything that could cause this problem of this many root canals?

To get cavities in any mouth...there are three essential things...1) u have to have the bacteria causing cavites 2)ur diet- u r feeding the bacteria with carbohydrates which in turn making lactic acid causing the teeth to decay 3)if u are not cleaning enough.
To get rid of the bacteria u need to use Peridex(mouth wash prescribed by the dentists), watch your diet to avoid cavities and make sure you are using the toothbrush with the right technique. Incorporate more of the flouride in the form of toothpastes and mouth rinses(use especially before going to bed). Hope it helps!!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
One of the major reasons for rampant caries (cavities) that can occur rapidly and all over the mouth is dry mouth.  Assuming your diet is rather healthy and you avoid sugars (like soda, candy, etc) and your hygiene is great, then my next logical question would be the dry mouth.  Dry mouth causes the food you eat to stick to the mouth and it doesn't get washed out so bacteria has more time to create acids which cause cavities.
