problem with veneers

I have 2 veneers on my 2 front upper teeth. I dont care about the look of them since I got them because of a dentist who "pushed" them on me when I was too young to take an informed decision.
The fact is they are more than 10 years old and one of them has a little chip and it is turning a little bit yellow. My dentist (a new one- not the one who put the veneers on) says he can change them. The fact is I am not sure I want to go through this procedure now and if I can spend one or 2 more years with those veneers (they are not causing any pain) I certainly would.
So my question is :
Is there a problem in keeping a veneer that is not 100% "normal" if I dont feel any pain and dont have any gum problem? Of course my dentist tells me this is better for my teeth but I got those veneers becasue the other dentist told me it would be better for my teeth and he got rid of 50% of my (perfectly healthy) teeth to put those veneers on so I am reluctant now to trust dentists and I want many opinions.

thank you.

how can I know if there is "decay" (I am not even sure what it means...) if the veneer covers the teeth?
The veneer is certainly not in a good condition but I dont know about the teeth.

If the veneers are not causing any problems with your gum tissue in that area and there is no decay then I feel you can leave as is until you are ready to replace them.
