removing crown

How will the dentist remove a crown that is 7 months old and has to be replaced?

I also have one 4 years old that has to be replaced and another one 6 years old that has to be replaced.

Will it be hard removing these crowns.   I know crowns should last longer than this, but considering the GD that put them on, I don't think this was their field of expertise.

thanks

I am sorry that you had such bad experience with this one dentist. It seems that you are now in good hands though.
I however want to point out that placing a single crown is and should be well within the range of work for any general dentist. I hope you realize that you had a bad experience with one and hopefully won't judge all based on this terrible outcome.
As a General Dentist , myself, on a daily basis I perform these and many other more complex procedures, and personally know many general dentist that their work puts to shame many specialists. Not that I am down playing the specialties.. what I am saying is that it is an individual thing. If you are good and exact in one thing, you will most likely be that way in everything. That also works the other way.. if you are bad.......
In any case I am glad you have found the right person for the job now..All the best.

On January 8th, 2009  I am refering to the old General Denstist who stated I would have to get use to it,  not the Prosthodontist.

I could not have found a better prosthodontist which another Prosthodontist further away recommended me to so I would not have to drive 3 hours.

So, people may wonder why I will never go back to a General Dentsit for crowns. Sorry, take a look at my case and you will never have to ask why.

5 crowns done by General Dentists and all 5 have to be replaced.  Actually 4 now. But the one on #30 has to be redone again a 2nd time. so one crown done twice in 6 years due to ill fitting crowns.

You haven't heard the story of my number 30.  I let go for along time before even knowing what was wrong. this one dentist told me sometimes it takes a year for a nerve to settle and it got infected and had to have a root canal.  The crown he put on in 2003 ended up falling off. This is the reason I started seeing Bertolini in North Canton, I thought he did such a great job replacing the crown Saxen in Massillon, Ohio screwed up.

My jaw kept hurting me for the longest time and the reason was due to the occlusal also.   thanks for your time.   What is your response to all of this?

They are being replaced because they are ill fitting crowns and were not put on properly.

If they had been put on properly I would not be getting them replaced.

I would hope to think that a (GD) General Dentist would have this type of expertise but evidentally they didn't or I wouldn't be going through all of this pain on the 18 and 19 crowns.  The number 19 has been loose and moving for quite awhile and the dentist stated for 7 months their was nothing wrong with it and told me there was nothing to cause me pain.     January 23rd I was told I needed two root canals.   I went and got another opionion also from another Endodontist who stated I needed two root canals.
He stated my canal in number 19 was so bad it was no fire and hot. It was actually bleeding.

The original dentist took an x-ray of my tooth 19 and stated it did not need a root canal and to look into his eyes, he would not lie to me on December 16, 2008.  The GD who did this in his website states he also does root canals. Shouldn't he have been able to tell then by his x-ray he took.

Well unfortunately he was wrong.   The occlusal was too high also which caused me more problems than I could even imagine would happen because of him not properly doing the occlusal adjustment right.   I complained to this dentist for 6 months that the crown was too high and bulky, he stated it was not.

It has been nothing but pain and nightmares for me. It has ruined my social life, I am in customer service and talk on the phone everyday so you could imagine what that is like when you are in pain.

I had taken 800 mg of ibuprofen, but the pain just kept coming back. Went to Prosthodontist, this is who found the real problem.

On January 8th, he stated I would just have to get use to it and there wasn't anything wrong with the crown, but if it would make me happy he would take it off and put a smaller one on and jeopardize the nerve.  LOL

To my suprise guess what?   The nerve had already been Jeopardized because of the occlusal he stated didn't need to be done.   Why else was I in pain.

Now that I have had two root canals, my #19 crown is still digging into my gums and irritating them and it is moving. I told him along it was moving when I ate, that I could feel it and he stated it was not moving.

Uhhhhhhhh    Everytime I think about how I trusted this dentist I want to kick my self in the teeth. lol    Thanks to this website I am on my way to recovery.  Thanks to Jerome.

I never knew what a prosthodontist was.   Now I have found a great one in Columbus.

Kayla,  the question is; why are they being replaced?  As how they are removed .. they will be cut down and basically lifted off, you should be numb and not feel any of this..

As for your comment about GD, do you mean General Dentist?  why would this not be their experties?
