roof of my mouth

none of the topics apply ... my question is:

I have a lump in the roof of my mouth.  Right smack in the center.  Is that normal?   Sometimes is flares up and is sore and throbs.  And it hurts to eat food or drink anything hot.   This has been going on for about 2 to 3 years, I think.  I'm not sure exactly how long.

I've been diagnosed with high blood pressure, no apparent reason.

You should probably get it checked out by a dentist.

It may just be a torus which basically means you have some extra bone on the roof of your mouth which creates a bump on the roof of your mouth.  The gums (soft tissue) on top of that area is usually a little thinner and a little more susceptible to trauma.

But a torus would have been present all your life unless you recently noticed it.  If it has been growning or changing in shape, then its definitely important to check the area out as soon as possible.

Ya, that's what I would guess it is.  But you should have it checked out because a doctor would be able to definitively diagnose your condition.

You're welcome.

Thank you so much, I've trying to recall if the bump has been there longer that I'd stated.   It's hard like a bone, so it very well could be a torus.  I will have it checked out anyway.  Again, thank.
