Thank you for taking care of my registration. I am sorry to say that since yesterday I have started having throbbing pain again on my lower left bicuspid#20 (procedure was done on 3/06)again. So I will do my comment short for now; and see if I can find find a way for retreatment of the root canal on #20 or (I hope not)shoot for Apicoectomy????? My life has been a nightmare since 3/06 due to one procedure which was to replace my old filling on #20(which had giving me no problem and pain till that day; and dentist insisted on doing it.

Because his negligence, and not listening to the patient(me), since March 29, 06, I have been to over 6 emergencies (medical and dental)all arising from infection on #20. and now Iwas told overseas that I need to have Apicoectomy on #20 will increased @5 Risk to Alveolar or its branches and this tooth being right over Mental Foramen of Mental nerve. My Dentist has respectfully has abandoned me and I thoght I had
one of the bes dentist in Orange County. I was totally wrong. I will stop here if it is okay. I am in pain,
Please would you tell me what is the going rate for Apicoectomy on lower left Bicuspid#20? How riskey is it? Would retreatment of root canal migh have a chance if it was done by a compotent doctor?. How do I find a Good/reliable, and caring doctor to put an end to my 9 months of pain and nightmare(not to mention huge economic loss, pschological pain, ear infection, LTMJ inflamation, and on going infection and throbbing, amd more.infection, and much more)?

Thank you, and best wishes.

the tooth was treated in november.  should not be loose.  looseness ma be due to a periodontal problem or an endodntice problem. If i were you, I'd see and endodonsist  ion your own (ie do not get a referral from your dentist but rather a fiend or family member--this way u get an nboiased opinion.) something just does not sound right to me. especially with the looseness.

Thank you!!   Yes, the dentist did file it way down so there is no pressure, except for the fact that it is slightly loose, so sometimes it moves.....  So antibiotics will not "cure" the bone infection?   It will go away in time?   If that is the case, it is too bad that I took them for so long!   Thank you so much for your help.   It is terrible to "not understand" what is going on with your own body, in this case, tooth!!  ~~Jal1221

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
I am not sure which question to answer first. I do not use the cerec unit but I have seen it demostrated and know doctors that do use it and I don't think that is the problem. Not every root canal that is done, even if the tooth is non-vital(which means the nerve is dead) requires antibiotics. The antibiotics will control a clinical infection--that is to say if you have swelling or acute pain, but will not cure the infection under the tooth in the bone. This will require the necessary root canal therapy. During the therapy the doctor is in essence steralizing the inside of the canals to reduced the bacterial population that is present. In most cases that will be sufficient to heal the area. It is true that this can take some time. It is important that the tooth remain out of occlusion at this point. Many times the reason for the cerac is the tooth has had extensive fillings and the damage to the nerve has been done already. It does not seem like you need to lose the tooth. if the pain persists I see nothing wrong in having a consult with an endodontist.
