root canal done 2 weeks ago and still same symptoms as before

Hi, I have had tooth pain since end of april, been in and out of dentist, they thought it was a cavity causing the pain, had it filled still hurt, they had me come back in, thought I had something stuck in my gums, like a pice of popcorn, that didn't help, they had no idea what else it could be, took x rays and everything looked okay.
I was referred to an endodontist in July finally, go there to be told I didn't need a root canal but had a bad sinus infection, left with antibiotics, and was told to see my family doctor. Was on 2 antibiotics and neither helped at all (I rarely take antibiotics) then returned because I was still in lots of pain, had a CT scan done, sinuses look good, was then sent to ENT doctor because during all of this my right side of my sinuses are stuffy and sore to touch around my nose and cheek bone, he told be ct Svan came back normal, to go to endontist.
Then I went to the endo AGAIN  2 weeks ago and they did a few tests with tapping, biting on a tool thing and putting this extremely cold stuff on my tooth and that was REALLY bad when they did that, so they decided it was probably that tooth and did the root canal on it, I called 3 days after because my right cheek and gum area is still swollen (where all this has been from the start)so I was given an antibiotic because they thought maybe there was an infection, was on that a week and told if it didn't help and thingsupport didn't improve to call back and may need different antibiotic. So after  a week of being g on that no improvement, I called back and then the endo that did my root canal talked to me asked my symptoms, and told me he didn't think it was an infection so didn't think it was necessary to be put on a new antibiotic,  NOW still having pain, I am being referred to a gum specialist! Can't get in until September 10th, I have been on vicodin off and on through all this, tried alternating x Tra strength tylenol and ibuprofen every 3 hours, the vicodin is the only thing that dulls this pain:(  now my cheeks still swollen, and I STILL have the gum pain, in between two teeth (in between tooth 3 and 4,4 was the one that had the root canal) can someone please give me some advice, I have no idea what to do now and am totally tired of having this pain and just being sent from one doctor/dentist to the next and no one is able to fix it. Thanks:) not sure if it made a difference I did smoke a cigarette right after having the root canal, didn't think anything of it until reading up on line about some of this, could I still have an infection??

hi
i also think there would be some food impaction between 3 and 4 , just try deep floss and rinse thoroughly with saline water or with some mouth wash like chlor-hexidine .

My pain is now mainly in between tooth 3 and 4 and my gums feel swollen, tooth 4 is the one I had the root canal on

Your descriptions suggest non-odontogenic toothache, probably consistent with atypical odontalgia. Seeing an Orofacial pain specialist or neurologist is advised.
