swelling under tongue

A small flap of skin under my tongue seems to be clogged(with fluid and puss) and enlarged.  Perhaps this is a secretion gland? Is this something serious?

I believe it is puss because I did manage to squeeze a white substance out of it.  i also tried to puncture it to drain the fluid, but it did not drain.

Thanks,

IMFLETCH

Dear IMFLEFCH, There is a salivary gland under the tongue. Actually there are two with the orafices of the salivary ducts on both sides of lingual frenum under the tongue. It is possible that the duct is blocked and causing a slight infection. It would be a good idea to see an oral surgeon.
