Hi again,
The antibiotics take three or four days to start to work. Swelling should go down quickly after that. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water (1/4 tsp to 8oz water). That will help with healing and reducing the swelling. Take the ibuprofen because it's an antiinflammatory and also helps with swelling.
You can sleep with your head slightly elevated, too.
It should resolve itself in a few days. GOOD LUCK and my very best to you,
Gellia
Yes, I went to my dentist. After xray he found infection at the root of my tooth. I was put on amox. and ibuprofen. My question is how long is normal for this swelling to last?
have you been to the dentist for meds?.....must take care of infection
Swelling from infection will seek the lowest spot on your face, i.e. your lower jaw.
Have you had the infected tooth addressed? Infection like that won't go away by itself.
Please give us more information so we may help you further.
Best to you,
Gellia
