tooth sensitivity to heat

I have been noticing some pretty bad sensitivity to heat in my two upper front teeth for the past week and a half. I experienced a lot of pain in my teeth after going for a long walk during a day when there were sub-zero windchills/temps. I was joking about how my teeth felt frozen, is it possible that I actually could have damaged the nerves? I have never had a cavity before, I'm in my twenties, and take very good care of my teeth. I was just at the dentist in November and am positive that I do not have a cavity, especially in my front teeth! Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions on what to do?

Do you whiten often?  Overwhitening can cause nerve inflammation and create sensivitity to hot/cold.

I live in Texas, so we never get temperatures below 0...I hate cold weather.  I have never heard of anyone who damaged the nerve because of temperature.  I would suggest trying to breathe through your nose when there are extreme temperatures.  If the nerve was traumatized at all due to temperature, I would expect it to heal over time.  You can help by keeping the teeth away from large temperature changes for a while and see if your symptoms improve.

Let me know what happens, I would be interested to know.
