Sounds like gingivitis. Definitely see a dentist. In the meantime brush twice a day and floss. Don't use listerine or the like because they kill the good bacteria as well as the 'bad'
I would suggest you seek out a dentist and have a complete check up and diagnosis.Inflamed gums can be a symptom of a number of things and can not be ignored.
best thing you can do is see a good general dentist who will take films, do a thorough exam and explain the findings. If indeed you have a gum problem of some sort, it most likely can be treated in the office. IF it is more severe, you may be referred to a gum specialist (periosdontist). Bit is all starts at the general dentist.
