Medication

I've been taking 300 mg. Carbolit (Lithium Carbonate) for 4-5 years after being diagnosed with a "sub-clinical" bipolar condition. I also take 20 mg. Fluoxac and 0.5 mg. Ativan. All daily and all quite successfully. Is there another medication I can substitute for Carbolit to eliminate tremors?

I have had Depakote for 2 years without any success (plus other meds) and my pdoc told me that now it's time to test ECT. But luckily he first decided to test lithium (800mg) together with depakote (800) and it worked. For tremors I use beta blockers when needed and they work fine.

Valproate, Carbamazepine, Topiramate, Lamotrigine, Gabapentine and Zyprexa are other choices. But there should be a good reason for switching medication.

There are many. Ask your doctor about Tegretol and Depakote and Lamictal.
