Celexa side effects

I stopped taking Paxil a few months ago because it increased my restless legs syndrome to the point of intolerability.  My doctor wanted me to try Celexa for the possibility that it would have less of that effect. I took my first dose of 10 mg. a few nights ago and it kept me awake most of the night.  I had a feeling of grogginess and yet my body and mind were agitated (thoughts racing and unable to keep still).  I also had stomach upset and palpitations.  I stopped taking it on the advice of my doctor but I wonder if maybe I took it in the morning instead of at night, it would work better?  I really need an antidepressant that won't worsen my restless legs and if Celexa is the one, i don't want to give up on it.  I think my doc is afraid because I'm prone to mood swings and inptepreted the agitation as a prelude to mania.  Would it happen that fast though, after just one low dose? Any comments greatly appreciated.

I have only been  Celexa for 4 months. It did make me sleepless at first but when my body got used to it after about 3 months, it stopped. Taking in the A.M. also worked for me. It has definetly helped with no heavy side effects.

Dear Codes,
Definitely take you celexa in the moring.  But, for the first week, take just 5 mgs.  Once you think that works well, no palps, or other side effects, then increase to 10 mgs.  That's what I did, and it worked out very well.

You have to experiment with all of these kind of antidepressants. I think the idea of trying it in the morning is a good one.at least for a day or two..unless you think the mania issues is a real threat..hard to believe that it is, not likely, but only you can make that judgement.
