I feel as though I have pretty bad luck too (although I did win a raffle several weeks ago after making a small donation to the Cancer Society. Ironically it was make-up that I never wear and probably don't intend too. There was a lesson to be learned in that somewhere).
Anyway, sometimes I feel we need to face adversity before we can learn life lessons that we need too.
I have struggled with the mental health issues (and 'life symptoms') that I have but I have also gained from them.
Sometimes it is about perspective and making lemonade out of lemons.
Your post reminded me of a time when I was out doing farm work in torrential rain and the freezing cold. Many things had gone wrong this morning but the final straw was a wheel fell off my cart on the way up a hill and rolled for miles down the road.
I had been feeling extremely frustrated and shattered but gee, I just had to laugh.

I can assure you that the universe is not conspiring against you, and I can also assure you that there is a psychological reason for all of this that you can learn...so please sit down and talk this through with a trained therapist...it can change the course of your life.
We had a tradesman in our home (house) today. He is previously from South Africa and spoke of some of the atrocities that have and are still occurring there.
What is really harsh is when rare events become common place.
I think, to a large degree, that people make their own luck. A lot I believe is also about attitude.
I think when we feel out of whack with the universe, etc we don't have balance in our own life. Sometimes this is because reality differs from our own expectations. Willing, wishing or wanting (or even forcing) things to be different doesn't help.
I think when we relax and learn to accept things for what they are then we can feel content and at peace with ourselves and the world.
