The anti-psychotics could have been prescribed for the paranoia.
Were you paranoid before you took the adderall? If not, then I would think the adderall may be responsible. Psychotic drug reactions are said to be rare for adderall though.
Drugs and alcohol taken in excess could also be responsible.
It is said that adderall should be used with extreme caution as it is addictive and can easily be abused.
If you still have issues with drug addiction you should speak to your doctor about this and maybe even consider a rehab program.
Definitely discuss all this with your wife and I agree with Paxiled, see a different doctor. Perhaps one specializing in addictions.
Perhaps a part of you does still want that fix. The best policy is to be open and honest with your doctor and to discuss these concerns as well. Counseling could also be extremely beneficial.

Why where you prescribed risperidone and benztropine? Someone I know takes those for schizophrenia. By what you say in your post it doesn't sound like schizophrenia.
You need to ditch that doctor, too. Get a psychiatrist if you want meds for a mental problem, not a regular doc. Abilify is serious medication, not something to just "try," it's usually for when every other antidepressant hasn't worked. Just to throw you on it as a first resort is ridiculous, as is putting on two other meds that don't seem all that appropriate to what's ailing you.
You have a lot of questions and they are all interrelated. The only way you are going to find out the answer is why stopped taking all of the medications and see how you feel. You might also have a good conversation with the wife about your fears and if necessary go into counseling together
