I work for a medical center. Currently have FMLA status. My question is: When I submit job tranfer requests, I am rejected due to my attendance record. Supervisors who do interviews have the "right" to ask attendance issues whether on FMLA( I do not disclose my illness). They just look at days missed. Should I just forget about advancing? My bipolar II has changed my career opportunities fot the last 15 years. I wish I could just get SSDI and retire. I'm 57 now and tired of hearing you can still work. I guess this means even if jobs are low paying. Went from Manager to Janitor. This disease effects my social security as well. The government,workplace and mental health experts seem to oppose each other and the little guy with Bipolar sits on the sidelines looking for peace.
