I have Hypotyroidsm and ADD

Is there anybody out there who suffers from Hypotyroidsm and ADD. Would like to know what medication your Doctor has you on  for ADD and does it do it's job? Thank you all!

I was diagnosed with both ADD and hypothyroidism about 8 month ago at the age of 20.
I currently take Levothyroxine 88mcg(μg) in the morning and 2 doses of Adderall (instant release, not XR) 20mg - one in the morning before classes and the second one whenever I need it depending on my classes that day or things I need to work on. I also later added Celexa 20mg which helped a lot with the anxiety and mood swings - especially from the "crash" of the Adderall.

But with ADD meds, no one can tell you what will work best for you, or what dosage, before you try it. Everyone reacts differently.
In adults, Adderall and Dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine) are often well-tolerated. As is Ritalin. Some meds are generally more successful in children, such as Focalin and Daytrana.

As far as non-stimulants, some people with hyperactivity find that Clonidine helps them. Strattera also does help some people, but many get some pretty wicked side effects from it - myself included.

All in all, finding an ADD med that works for you is a matter of trial and error by you and your doctor. Sometimes the first thing works great, and sometimes you have to try a few meds and tweak the dosage before you get the best results with the least side effects. But once you do, it's a big help.

Oh, and thyroid meds are much easier - they may have to tweak the dosage a little, but there are usually no side effects at all. I had no problems at all with it. :)

Good luck!

I hope someone answers you but when they do remember that each case is different and only you and your doctor can sort out what is best for you.
