Mental ups and Downs

kd
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think I have a problem.  I am always so irritable and I have these really bad mood swings...not just at "that time of the month," but all the time.  My boyfriend gets so mad at me and we have these huge arguments and I lways end up crying.  I'm scared I'm going to lose him, and I don't want to go to the doctor about this until I know what I'm talking about or something.  I just want a little help in knowing what I am dealing with.

Mood swings can be a part of different symptomatology of certain mental illnesses. This may be part of the Bipolar Disorder (used to be called manic-depressive). Or be a part of a Personality Disoder like Borderline personalility disorder. Premenstrual Dysphoric disorder (used to be called PMS) may also cause the irritablity during "that time of month". Also dont discount that whats making you irritable is the relationship itself.

Its best that you consult a psychiatrist to be adequaetely evaluated. I am empathize your reluctance in seeing a mental helath professional, but a assure you it will do more good to see one than staying the way you are.
