Night Sweats

In the past year, I have struggled with boughts of severe anxiety, (sleep disturbance, the shakes, tingling in arms and legs, heart palpitations, loss of appetite). Lately I have been waking up in the middle of the night covered in sweat. After reading extensively on panic attacks, these night sweats dont seem to fit the definition. If these arent panic attacks, what could be causing this? Are night sweats a symptom of an anxiety disorder? Thank you for your help.

I too have been on Paxil for awhile (5 years). Before that it was a bunch of different ones I can't even remember (Prozac, Mannerix, Effexor etc.) I have noticed a side effect that I have had for the past couple of years in which one leg or the other will have involuntary spasms and my leg will make little twitching motions. Is this what is meant by "Restless Leg Syndrome"

Dear Kelley

Night sweats can occur from several causes such as tuberculosis, thyroid problems,  anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder etc. Eventhough night  sweats can occur in anxiety disorders, I would recommend that you  first consult your physician for a comprehensive evaluation to rule out any medical causes that may be contributing to the symptoms and then consult a psychiatrist for  adequate treatment.A combination of medications and psychotherapy are effective in the treatment of anxiety/panic attacks.

Sincerely

Hello... This may be wrong depending on your age, but menopause can cause horrible night sweats.

Sounds like the symptoms I get from alcohol withdrawal, even only six hours after my last drink. It sucks!

I too have suffered from the same and have been on Paxil for 4 years now. I just saw a doctor who prescribed Rovitril to help with something that he called Restless Leg Syndrome-I question the diagnosis but the drug taken at night sure seems to stop the night sweats and also the tingling in the arms and legs and I seem to feel great and ready for the day in the morning-maybe mention this to your doctor.
