Night Sweats

I am a 45 year old woman that has had a complete hysterectomy in the past. I am presently on Premarin(1.25)daily, Synthroid(.05)daily, Effexor XR(225)daily and Buspar(30mg)daily. Since this last December, I have had horrible night sweats that have caused me to be unable to get very much sleep. I am becoming physically ill because of the lack of sleep.
I have also had a rapid weight gain in the last 4 months, along with a feeling that there is a swollen gland in my upper throat. My doctor has run blood tests, as well as a swallowing xray and an upper GI, but nothing is showing up.
I am looking for any possible answers, or direction to turn, in order to alleviate these symptoms. Do you have any suggestions?

The night sweats are not likely to be caused by the effexor and most likely to be caused by an estrogen/progesteron imbalance.  You might ask your doctor to either check those levels or refer you to  a specialist, like an endocrinologist or ob/gyn who works in that area.

Speaking from my own experience, if you do not have an OBGYN, you need one.  Especially if you have had a complete hysterectomy
and are experiencing night sweats.  I was going through the same thing, first on one hormone pill and then another, until I went to an OBGYN who explained to me that the medication of patches go directly into your blood stream. Unlike the pill.  I am 61yrs. old and have been having night sweats, when I wasn't on some form of estrogen taken in pill form. I am now on one of the stronger mg. of the hormone patch and I am doing great. I had my hysterectomy in 1984.  I hope this will help.
