Safety of Zyprexa at low doses

I really like the zyprexa and what it can do for my anxiety, but I am concerned about all of the side effects as mentioned in the prescribing info and other places.  I have not any side effects, but I was more concerned aboutthe long term side effects at the lower dose, diabetes, etc.

Seems like I need a lot less Xanax when using the Zyprexa.  I know it is not labeled for anxiety, but I believe it is being prescribed for that in a lot of circumstances.

Thanks.

Randy

my son was given zyprexa for racing thoughts he was taken 20 milligrams a day. He hated it he he started to gain weight and gained 120 lbs in 3 monts. I hate that medication. I dont understand why they prescribe it for sleep regulation or anxiety. is used for (psychotic people)

Just realized that I didn't really ask a question in my above post.  Is the 2.5 mg dose of Zyprexa fairly safe as far as all the dangerous side effects that you hear so much about?

Zyprexa is relatively new so at this time you have to rely on the information provided to make your decision about continuing. MOst of these kind of medications have proven to be safe in the long run, but stay in touch with your prescribing doctor, and remember it is a powerful medication and should be used only under supervison.
