Scary Thoughts

I have been struggling with depression as far back as I can remember.  I am a 43 years old male.  I was finally diagnosed about 6 years ago.  I have been on paxil XR for a couple of years, then changed to Lexapro.

over the last couple of months I have become obsessed with reading about suicide.  I don't think I am suicidal, I'm just obssessed with reading about people who have committed suicide, viewing on-line memorials, etc...just obssessed with death in general.

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been reading about ADD.  I've taken several on-line assessments that indicate I have a high probability of ADD.

My question is, is any of this stuff related or I am I just losing my mind?

thanks

My computer seemed to get stuck, and I obviously hit the "post comment" button too many times - sorry for the repetitive posts!

I have "morbid curiosity" and I read a lot of death stuff too.  I think that can be quite common.  However, I'm not obsessed with it at all.  I look up a lot about suicide because a schoolmate of mine, a very religious girl, committed suicide years ago and I'm trying to understand what makes a person do that to themselves.  None of the stuff depresses me, by the way and I don't spend an inordinate amount of time looking  it up so I'm not worried about my curiosity.

I do not see a relationship between add and  your obsession, but certainly there is a relationship between your obsession and your depression.  The medication helps you with the manifestation of depression, and the symptoms, but may not help with the underlying thinking and pessimism, and darkness that is part of depressive thinking.  I suggest you see a talk therapist and explore these concern...it will be very valuable for  you.
